Jurgen Klopp offers Mo Salah injury update ahead of Aston Villa clash

Jurgen Klopp says Mo Salah is ‘more annoyed than injured’ at the moment, though the Egyptian winger has been training on his own for the past week because of a knock.

Salah is expected to be able to start against Aston Villa this afternoon, with the club having managed him carefully over the last few days.

The injury stems from the shocking tackle that Hamza Choudhury put in on him during the game at Anfield against Leicester City a couple of weeks back.

Salah is still not 100 per cent back from that with fluid in his ankle still an issue, but it should not be enough to keep him off the Villa Park turf.

Klopp said, via the Daily Mirror: “He should be fine. I think it is really more annoying for him, not me, that the injury is a bit of fluid and he has to deal with it. He gets it out and then has to come back out to the team. It is not a ‘real’ injury.”

Salah should start this afternoon alongside usual front three regulars Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane. The Reds face a tough challenge in the form of Dean Smith’s side, but should have enough for the three points.

Manchester City face Southampton this weekend, and kick-off at the same time as the Reds.
