Liverpool were sublime yesterday.
The Reds beat Manchester City 3-1 and the defence was terrific, marshalled by Virgil van Dijk.
Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andy Robertson at fullback were wonderfully creative, but Dejan Lovren alongside the Dutchman in the middle was also a top performer.
Our favourite defensive moment though came right at the death, in the final minute of stoppage time, when van Dijk bullied Gabriel Jesus off the ball and sent the Brazilian flying!
Our no.4 was then fouled by Sterling which effectively ended the game, as Alisson took his time over the kick and the referee blew up for full-time not long after.
It’s a shame we couldn’t register a clean-sheet, but when you’re eight points clear at the top and unbeaten, it’s not that big of a deal!
Virgil van Dijk sending Jesus back to Brazil and then controlling the ball to the sides before Sterling gets it.
