De Bruyne ‘admires’ Klopp, who ‘wanted me at Dortmund’

Kevin de Bruyne has spoken kindly about Jurgen Klopp, Liverpool’s manager, who he claims to have a ‘good relationship’ with.

The Belgian, arguably the best midfielder in the Premier League and the lynchpin of our rivals Manchester City, was speaking ahead of our 3-1 victory over them on Sunday.

“Me & Klopp have a good relationship, he wanted me at Dortmund at a time… I think I admire him, and he admires me so every time we see each other is always in a good note,” he told City’s YouTube account in footage only now going viral.

You can watch the whole interview, below:

De Bruyne, despite his unquestionable brilliance, didn’t put us to the sword at the weekend.

Liverpool’s midfielders are always criticised in comparison with the creative attributes of De Bruyne and David Silva, but actually, Jordan Henderson and Gini Wijnaldum shone either side of Fabinho and dominated City’s central players.

Their incredible performance actually made a mockery of those who’ve demanded Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain’s immediate integration into the side.

De Bruyne would be a welcome addition at Liverpool – especially as we could do with a creative right-back option should Trent Alexander-Arnold ever need a rest!
