Congratulations Mamadou Sakho, Liverpool’s Player of the Month for October.
Why the award is announced at the end of the following month is beyond us, but goes some way in explaining how impressive the Frenchman was during Jurgen Klopp’s first matches in charge.
During October, Sakho played every game for Liverpool at the heart of defence, barely putting a foot wrong. He was sensational away to Chelsea, Spurs and Rubin, and would still be on the first names on the team-sheet had injury not cruelly ruled him out until Christmas.
He’s recovering well however, and should walk back into the side upon his return to fitness.
