Bundesliga outfit FC Koln have decided they’ll sell Jonas Hector this summer, reports German publication Kicker.
The 26-year-old left-back shone in the league this year and has cemented a starting spot for himself in Joachim Loew’s international side; and should play at Euro 2016 this summer as a result.
Following Alberto Moreno’s error-strewn campaign in England, Liverpool fans are crying out for left-back re-enforcements. Hector’s previously spoken of his desire to work with Jurgen Klopp, while his club president mentioned a fee around €10m would be something he’d consider selling at.
In today’s market, that should be a no-brainer – especially as we’re expecting to spend the same kind of money on unproven prospect Ben Chilwel, who played for Leicester City’s Under-21 side last term.
We don’t have a problem with the prospective Chilwell signing, providing it comes with a more experience upgrade on Moreno. Hector seemingly provides this, and it’s a deal Liverpool could definitely get over the line should they wish to.
Left-back is one of the priority areas for improvement this summer, and if we could get this sorted before the Euros, all the better.
