Mamadou Sakho is back on Merseyside after Jurgen Klopp sent him home from Liverpool’s pre-season Tour of America last night.
The Frenchman will continue his rehab at Melwood, but the reasons for his departure are because of two unnamed incidents in which he’s infuriated the manager, according to the Telegraph.
A video is now surfacing from the beginning of Tour, in which Sakho films the squad’s trip to Alcatraz. He interrupts Klopp’s official interview – and the boss’s reaction – is interesting.
“How long do you think you could live here?” Sakho asks, before his manager replies, “Actually I don’t need to think about it – you should think about it – because only one of us came late last night…”
Klopp’s laughing, but there’s undeniably a more steely edge to his answer. Now, the manager perhaps believes Sakho’s larger than life personality (and the fact he can’t actually play any matches) is unhelpful for the squad.
Either way, we hope they sort it out.
For now, Sakho is on his own once again.
