In news which has broken completely out of the blue, Liverpool have signed Chelsea’s teenage forward Dominic Solanke.

The 19-year-old is out of contract this summer so the fee will be decided by a tribunal, with respected journalist Paul Joyce, among others, confirming the news today.

The Guardian claim that he’ll only set us back between £2m and £3m and will join up with his new team-mates at the beginning of pre-season, earning around £20k/week.

Solanke has plundered goals for Chelsea’s various youth sides, but has never been given much of a sniff for the first-team, under any manager. This season just gone, he bagged seven goals in 25 appearances for Vitesse on loan, but is expected to join our Under-23s side alongside Ben Woodburn and Trent Alexander-Arnold to begin with…

If he impresses at this level, you can be sure Jurgen Klopp will present opportunities, as he has done continually with our best youngsters since taking charge.

The signing will be the first of Liverpool’s summer, and could potentially represent a real bargain if the England Under-20 man fulfils his potential.
