Klopp drops Coutinho bomb shell after 3-0 Maribor win

At first we were told Coutinho might be able to shake his injury before the Huddersfield game… Then, we had to wait on whether he completed a training session before Maribor… Now, Jurgen Klopp has pretty much confirmed we won’t see Phil again until November 18 – after the international break.

“I don’t think Phil will be able to play, with Dejan (Lovren) it’s different, it’s not the same problem as Phil had,” Klopp told Sky Sports after our 3-0 win over the Slovenian visitors in the Champions League.

“Gini is out, maybe there will be some wonder (recovery) with Phil but I don’t think at the moment that he can play.”

The news is worrying, as despite our consecutive 3-0 victories, we’ve lacked spark and imagination in two shocking first-halves against Huddersfield and Maribor.

With Sadio Mane also sidelined and Adam Lallana yet to play this term, our creativity in the final third has left a lot to be desired.

Last term at the London Stadium, Coutinho produced a magical performance, bagging a brace and assisting another as we thrashed the Irons 4-0 – but we’d take a far less convincing scoreline this time around.

Klopp is likely to field Jordan Henderson, James Milner and Emre Can in midfield – with Mo Salah, Roberto Firmino and Daniel Sturridge up top.

Still enough talent to dispose of Slaven Bilic’s struggling outfit.
