Gutted beyond belief Liverpool 1 – Arsenal 2

Posted by

What happened to the Liverpool who would score in the dying seconds of the game to turn it around?

Again we started off the game very well and looked like we will cruise to victory with Dirk Kuyt scoring in the first half.

We bossed Arsenal in the first half however things turned around in the second after the Glen Johnson own goal and then Arshavin followed it up with a wonder-goal.

What we lack is not quality, what we lack is morale it is obvious on how we could not bounce back after the own goal.

Unless we get behind our team and our manager we are not going to get out of this slump.

  1. Mate, I’ve never seen a bunch of people so behind the manager after the run of results you lot are on. It’s quite amazing the level of support the manager still receives. The team is going nowhere though & the owners must have doubts about letting Benitez have the money to invest. Look at the way he’s managing Acquilani. It’s preposterous. Either the guy is fit or he isn’t, if he’s fit & he’s a £20m footballer how come he isnt in the team? Benitez is far too stubborn for me

  2. UHM this is the last straw, I have been one of Rafa’s biggest fans from the start, but come on, I dont just blame him or the owners or the players, but all of them, morale???? surrender their wages! then they will start playing with a bit of “morale” we are simply not good enough and it hurts!!! we have a bunch of overpaid, big headed mid-tablers, and we need a leader that is strong, a commander-in-chief that will get the players motivated. We need investment from 1 owner not 2 or 3, one owner who loves this great club. and world class players who are willing to die for the shirt and get rid of the deadwood. there are a few youngsters who look good but thats it, for the future, we need them now. I love this club, and I know it is better than this but damn it hurts to be second best each and every time!! YNWA

  3. well, stunned, but still with Rafa. I believe stevie has been no where near his usual best. masch was breaking their play like it was made of soft jelly, i can’t see why he was taken off????
at the end of the day as rafa said after the game…. we lacked the confidence (no where near the spirit of last season)

  4. REPEAT…Rafa Must Stay, for the sake of the other 4 or 5 title challengers BUT NOT for LFC! Forget about the owners, forget about the injuries which every other major club manages to cope with, the problem is Rafael Benitez.

With hindsight, the worst thing that has happened to Liverpool was fluking that Champions League victory in Istanbul otherwise Benitez would not have lasted 3 seasons at Anfield AND the Americans would probably have not come in.

Last season was a one off similar to the one when Newcastle United came close to clinching the title a few years ago and the season when Blackburn Rovers actually did.

PLEASE, get your heads out of the sand once and for all and accept the reality that Rafa Benitez will NEVER bring the Premiership to Anfield! IT’S THAT SIMPLE.

  5. Gutted.
what happened in the second half? We could have won 4 or 5 nil if we had kept up the performance of the first.
    What was to blame?
CAnt be team selection it worked well in the first half.
Subsitutions are suspect but we all know that Rafa cant make subs, even the 16 year olds that i coach know he doesnt havea clue when it comes to subs.
Spirit/morale? maybe; Steve G is clearly still not 100% neither is Fernando, and Aquilani? For the love all all that is right, if he is fit lets play him.

  6. …yeah i know we are in some difficult times now but we really need to hold on for good times to come…
but again i blame Rafa also for contributing…there is no consistency in our team, players come and leave so we find things difficult during the season….
seriously i feel we should back the team, for that is what we have now, but with Rafa,
…i dont know he seem to rather create divisions and fall outs with the ones he has at the moment..what is happening to Voronin, babel, Reira…we have been able to contain Rafa’s mistakes and tactics cos we feel he is the gaffer and sacking him will cost us some cash, so why dont he also make use of Voronin, babel and the likes, cos until January or summer they are what we have…i dont hear of those boys lately, even when Torres is out….
Raffa rather sticks to Ngog who lacks strengh and experience, but no one complains cos we feel that is his decision..,
..he should also give those boys the chance…
i strongly believe we need to sit Raffa down to explain things to him…he should start listening…
….PLEASE most of the guys he parted company with, (Riise, Sissoko, Bellamy…) are still doing well.
i believe if we had built a team from that time, the consistency would have helped us a lot..
i can also say we are missing Pennant seriously cos since that lad left, the quality on our right side of attack has been very minimal…quality crosses, pace etc….i am seeing that in Glen Johnson, but mind you he is a defender and always needs to watch his back…lets get an additional striker (Van Nist. or Pav) to help Torres up front
…Gerrard is doing all he could, but i am missing those long range strikes.
..because of his attacking mind, he rather tries to walk the ball into the box to get Penalties, but he has been scoring from those positions with his strikes…..it is very difficult to understand..but what more can we say than to keep on fighting..

  7. I am absolutely and utterly astonished that Stevie g is being wasted in the role he has been given as a second striker. It was Ok when Liverpool had Alonso because he was capable of distributing the ball and gave balance to the team. With Alonso gone we need to have a creative playmaker who can distribute clever passes, open up spaces and who can get good shots on target from outside the box – Mascherano and neither Lucas have these qualities. Especially when Torres is out injured, SG is really not involved in the game at all – he needs to get on the ball early to provide some sort of presence in the middle of the park. Regarding Benitez… I am baffled with some of the decisions he makes particularly in the transfer market (ie) sell Riise for 4 million and bring in Dossena for 7 million – absolute crackers! Had the chance to sell useless Voronin but decided to keep him – for what? All in all he has good tactical sense but lacks the human element and this is vitally important for the confidence and morale of players – I mean how can you after going 3 down in the CL final to 3-3 not celebrate the at least the third goal?? with a bit of emotion… unbelievable. If Liverpool don’t win anything this year he should go at the end of the season – Hope he proves me wrong!
