The Times journalist Tony Evans believes that ‘unfancied’ Mamadou Sakho could return soon…
Tony Evans has certainly had his fair share to say about Liverpool recently, and the Times journalist was at it again here, discussing Mamadou Sakho’s chances of earning a recall to the Reds’ first-team.
After being asked on an online forum: ‘What do you make of the Sakho situation? Is there a way back?’ He responded: “The one thing the Rodgers tenure has proved is there’s always a way back.
“Sturridge, Henderson, Skrtel, Lucas have all been off his Christmas card list and come back to contribute. I don’t fancy Sakho, either, but he might have to use him the way it’s going.”
Sakho has played just five times for Liverpool so far this season, and hasn’t featured since the Capital One Cup tie against Middlesbrough back in September. He also played in the wins over Tottenham and Ludogorets, and the defeats to Aston Villa and West Ham.
The 24-year-old Frenchman signed for the Reds in September of last year, joining from French side Paris Saint Germain for a fee of £15m. He made 19 appearances in all competitions last season, scoring once.
