Sakho delighted to be ready and available…

French powerhouse Mamadou Sakho took to his official website to thank Liverpool’s medical staff following the 2-2 draw with Arsenal.

The 24-year-old made his first Premier League start since September against the Gunners, and played relatively well to boot.

Here’s what he wrote:

Even if we just won a point yesterday, our spirit will certainly help during this Boxing Day ! For my part, I’m glad I could play during the whole game and I want to thank personally all the people who support me during this long period of treatments that I needed because of my injury. #YNWA #LFC #Liverpool

Sakho can expect a run of games now, as he fits perfectly in the 3-4-3 formation Brendan Rodgers has started to deploy.

He suits the left centre-back spot, and because of Dejan Lovren’s shaky form and the poor defensive form in general, Sakho has earned a chance to impress.

While his style is often ungainly, Sakho’s aerially exceptional, and provides strength and power to the defence, while being an underrated passer of the footballer, too.

Since arriving from PSG in the summer of 2013 for big cash, Sakho has only made 22 Premier League appearances, scoring just the once.
