Reports in the Daily Express claim that PSG have already decided on Nicolas Gaitan as their desired replacement for Lavezzi, but must sell before they are able to buy this month.
Brendan Rodgers is a long term admirer of Lavezzi, having supposedly tried to buy him in 2012, only for the then Napoli star to choose a move to the French capital instead of Anfield.
But the 29-year-old could finally pull on the famous red shirt in 2015, as the Ligue 1 giants aim to improve their Financial Fair Play situation by reducing their wage bill, with Lavezzi on a sizeable salary of £3.5m per season.
Fans have continued to doubt the reliability of reports linking Liverpool with Lavezzi, and while the move is still some way away, this is the biggest indication yet that a deal could actually happen.
However, PSG boss Laurent Blanc is only likely to agree to the sale, if he is able to sign Gaitan from Benfica. And the French champions face plenty of competition to get their man, with Manchester United also believed to be interested.
