We would certainly be happy with more hits like your Man City wonder strike, Phil…

Philippe Coutinho has said he must improve his Liverpool goalscoring record after hitting the back of the net just five times this season.

Granted, several of those strikes have been pretty memorable affairs – take a moment just to bask in the awesomeness of the Southampton and Manchester City goals – but in two seasons, 92 games, he’s only managed to score 13 times.

“I think I still have to improve. I have not improved yet. I scored a few goals last month but I need to improve,” he said, reports Daily Mail.

“I have this ambition, this objective of improving finishing. In the position I play, I need to score goals to help the team and create plays. Therefore I must improve my goalscoring skills.”

You can’t fault the lad’s ambition or drive, despite a quite stellar spell at Liverpool so far he’s still looking to get even better.

It’s a rather frank admission as well for Coutinho and he should be seriously commended as he looks to improve for the overall benefit of the team not just personal glory.

After being maligned at Inter he’s truly turned into one of the Premier League and Europe’s most exciting talents and to think – he is only 22-years-old…

If he succeeds in his quest to be one of the best, it’s hard to contain the excitement at just what an incredible player we will have on our books and that we acquired for such a pittance.
