Raheem Sterling fit for Arsenal game, and Daniel Sturridge could surprisingly return for Liverpool, too

Reports that star striker would be out for a month might be presumptuous…

In some good pre-Arsenal clash news, two of our most important attackers – Daniel Sturridge and Raheem Sterling – could be unexpectedly fit for the trip to the Emirates, reports the Echo.

Providing he doesn’t pick up a different problem, Sterling will be fine for the crunch match, while Sturridge faces an anxious wait, with the Echo claiming that reports of a month long absence are ‘premature’…

Ideally, they’ll both be ready to start due to the importance of the fixture, but with Sturridge’s consistent injury woes, it seems unlikely that he’ll be risked unless he’s completely recovered from the hip injury picked up during the home defeat to rivals Manchester United last time out.

If Sturridge doesn’t make it back in time – it wouldn’t be a surprise to see Sterling deployed as a centre-forward in the 3-4-3 formation – as he has been regularly throughout the season with Sturridge sidelined. In that time he’s notched ten goals in all competitions, but any winning contribution against the Gunners would top the lot in terms of importance.

It will be interesting to see Sterling’s reception from both sets of supporters, with the 20-year-old today linked to Arsenal in the Mirror, due to a rumoured rejected of a £180k-per-week contract in the Daily Mail.
