Rating the job security of every Liverpool player, as Brendan Rodgers warns his squad they’re playing for their futures

FULL BACKS

Glen Johnson – Struggled against Hull on Tuesday and looks a shadow of his former self. With his contract also running out at the end of the season, it’s hard to see us not taking the opportunity to get his huge wages off the books. He’s been a fine servant and deserves more recognition than he gets but his time is up.

Job Security: 3/10

Jose Enrique – Has another year left on his contract and looks likely to see it out, if only for the fact that it’s hard to see anyone else taking him. That’s not to say he’s not a good player. He’s endured a lot of problems with injuries over recent years, so it’s more likely we’ll keep him around for his experience than anything else.

Job Security: 6/10

Alberto Moreno – It took a lengthy transfer saga for us to eventually convince Sevilla to part with Moreno last summer, so it’s hard to see us throwing that away. The Spaniard has been decent this season, if not spectacular. He’s made a couple of high-profile errors but generally he has been impressive, and shows clear potential.

Job Security: 7/10

Javier Manquillo – Has barely featured since the turn of the year and seems to lack the quality to play for us regularly at this stage of his career. Nonetheless, Rodgers might choose to let him see out the final year of his loan deal, if only for a bit of added cover.

Job Security: 5/10

Jon Flanagan – Out of contract in the summer but surely likely to sign a new deal. Having been injured for the entirety of our current campaign he’s entirely blameless for our downturn in fortunes. As a key member of last season’s side, and a youth product, a new contract should be welcomed with open arms by supporters.

Job Security: 6/10
