Christian Benteke took to Twitter following his Swindon wonder-strike

Blockbuster summer signing Christian Benteke marked his Liverpool debut with a stunning goal yesterday, which has left the football world talking this Monday morning.

Starting up top on his own against Swindon, the Belgian powerhouse opened the scoring in the second half, taking the ball on his chest on the edge of the penalty box and smashing a volley into the top corner.

Naturally, Benteke was delighted, and thanked Liverpool fans for their travelling support during the comfortable 2-1 win.

Benteke’s performance and goal indicates that he’s ready to start for us against Stoke City next weekend, as we travel to the venue of last season’s 6-1 humiliation in search of retribution.

A fired up Benteke will help us achieve this, and we’d love him to match his friendly exploits at the Britannia.

If Rodgers is worried Benteke hasn’t played enough pre-season football, Divock Origi and Danny Ings could be considered instead, after both enjoyed a promising tour of the Far East and Australia.
