Jurgen Klopp has set Daniel Sturridge a special target to aid his return

Daniel Sturridge, arguably our best player when fit, has yet to represent Jurgen Klopp since the German’s appointment.

The English forward banged his knee ahead of Klopp’s first game against Tottenham, and has now missed seven games in total, to the immense frustration of Liverpool supporters.

And with Sturridge’s horrendous injury record in mind, Klopp has set him a target of ten days full training before he’s allowed to feature in a competitive game, so says the Daily Mail.

The striker is currently at Melwood training with the first team squad, but isn’t expected to return at the weekend to face Manchester City, his former club, at the Etihad.

Instead, Christian Benteke will likely lead the line. The powerhouse has been withdrawn from international duty because Belgium v Spain has been called off due to the recent terror attacks in Paris, reports the BBC.

Klopp’s men face the Premier League favourites at 5:30pm on Saturday – keen to bounce back from the unfortunate Anfield defeat to Crystal Palace last time out.
