Interesting Pato developments: Liverpool wanted Brazilian but Klopp intervened

According to reports in Brazil, Liverpool ‘the club’ showed proper interest in Corinthians owned Alex Pato, but our manager wasn’t so keen…

Globo Esporte claim that both Juventus and Liverpool held talks with the the Brazilian’s club regarding a January transfer for the 26-year-old forward, but the respective managers, Allegri and Jurgen Klopp – had reservations.

As a result, Chelsea have emerged as favourites for the former AC Milan striker, who’s desperate to seal a European move and re-establish himself as a top class attacker.

Pato’s started following the Blues on Instagram, with Chelsea also credited with an interest in our number one target Alex Teixeira, but interestingly – Pato’s agent Gilmar Veloz says we’re still in the running…

“The guys are working on getting an offer, but nothing Corinthians are yet to receive one,” Veloz said. “The January market is very limited.”

“Chelsea, Liverpool, Sporting and Benfica. All four have a chance.”

The quotes from Veloz are fishy to us, and seem very much like an agent speaking up chances of potential moves to encourage further interest or offers.

Importantly, Klopp has already ruled out a move for the Brazilian, categorically denying interest in him earlier this January.

It’s clear we’re targeting Teixeira, and will surely put our eggs in that slightly more exciting basket from now until deadline day – with Liverpool and Shakhtar already negotiating a potential fee.
