Respected Liverpool voice James Pearce, who writes for the Echo and has close links to the club, has explained Liverpool’s interest in two certain attackers via the Anfield HQ Podcast. (You can listen to the entire 30 minutes by following that link.)
Since Jurgen Klopp’s appointment, we’ve been heavily linked to two players especially – Brazilian forward Alex Pato and German playmaker Leroy Sane.

Some reports even suggested the Pato deal had been completed, and that the Corinthians owned forward would finalise a transfer in January – while multiple German stories have claimed our interest in Schalke’s recent German international who’s started the Bundesliga season superbly.
Pearce though shed no further light on the Pato speculation, claiming he hadn’t heard anything, but admitted that Liverpool have indeed been heavily scouting Sane. It appears then that while the Pato news could be driven by agents and the tabloids, the Sane stories are genuine.
Sane is just 19-years-old, but the scouts would have been mightily impressed with his contributions so far – having racked up five goals and five assists during 2015/16.
He’d suit our style due to his ability to start anywhere in attacking midfield, although we already have players like Adam Lallana, Coutinho, Roberto Firmino and Jordon Ibe who can do a similar job.
