Benteke is “enjoying life” at Liverpool, according to former teammate

Benteke might not have been the biggest hit since we signed him last summer, but he’s still enjoying his time at Anfield.

At least that’s according to his former Aston Villa teammate Marc Albrighton, who has been speaking to the Mirror this week.

Albrighton, now at Leicester, came up against his former colleague in the Foxes’ 2-0 win over us on Tuesday night. Benteke entered the fray as a 66th minute sub, and at the end of the match the two stayed to chat on the pitch for quite some time.

“He seems fine, I think he is enjoying life there. Things may not be going the way he’d want them to be going but he is a great fella and I wish him all the best,” said the midfielder.

“I remember him from my time at Villa and the one season he kept us up by himself.”

“He is a fantastic player, a proven Premier League player, just because he is not scoring goals I am sure they will come and he will prove to be a big hit for Liverpool.”

If only he could end our goalscoring crisis “all by himself” we’d probably be in the Champions League berths!

Still at least it seems he’s unfazed by all the recent criticism, which is great news.
