Reported Liverpool transfer target Piotr Zielinski has confirmed to media in Poland that he has spoken to Jurgen Klopp about a potential switch to Anfield.

The Metro reports that Zielinski, who is on loan at Empoli from Serie A rivals Udinese, has been heavily linked with a move to the Reds in the summer window.

And the 21-year-old Polish international midfielder seemed to indicate that his future could be with us on Merseyside, making no secret about talks with Klopp.

“There is a lot of truth in rumours about Liverpool, Jurgen Klopp is interested in me, we had some talks,” Zielinski told Polish outlet Sportowe Fakty, according to the Metro.

“I’m not thinking too much about it right now though, I’ve still got few games to play for Empoli and after that there is still Euro 2016 in France.”

Zielinski has scored four goals and supplied eight assists in 61 games for Empoli, where he has spent the last two years on loan after failing to establish himself at Udinese.

Several reputable journalists have tipped this transfer to happen, including BBC Sport’s former Liverpool expert Ben Smith via his Twitter account, and Zielinski’s comments suggest that it is a goer.

He would be an exciting addition to a midfield unit which could contain several exciting young talents next season, to complement the experience of James Milner and Jordan Henderson.
