Wonderkid striker is LFC fan: ‘My favourite song is You’ll Never Walk Alone…’

Breel Embolo is one of most exciting young forwards in Europe, and recently gave a personal interview to Swiss outlet Schweizer Illustrierte which is doing the rounds today.

In it, the 19-year-old claimed he wanted our famous anthem You’ll Never Walk Alone played at his funeral – which is a rather bizarre question for a teenager to have to answer in the first place!

“I have not thought about it,” he said. “My favourite song perhaps, ‘You’ll never walk alone’!”

Obviously, liking YNWA isn’t an indication of an imminent Anfield transfer – although it did remind us of when Fernando Torres was snapped with the same words stitched on the inside of his captain’s armband while at Atletico Madrid.

Embolo has torn up the Swiss league and has emerged as a target for Manchester United (via Metro), with Wolfsburg already having a €26m bid for FC Basel’s forward rejected (via Guardian).

In total, the rangy forward has 30 goals since turning professional, and one for his country – although he’s yet to bag at Euro 2016.

With Daniel Sturridge, Divock Origi, Danny Ings and Christian Benteke already on our books, we’d be very surprised if we were interested in another striker this summer, and assume our targets remain the same as previously reported.

We need a left-back, a central midfielder and a winger, having already acquired a keeper, a centre-half and a midfielder.
