Shocking: WADA felt Sakho hearing so unnecessary they didn’t even turn up

UEFA’s incompetence shouldn’t surprise us, but as further news breaks on Mamadou Sakho’s ‘doping’ case being dropped – we cannot help to be amazed – in the worst possible way.

Our French defender had to attend a disciplinary hearing in Paris on Thursday, to put forward his case alongside his lawyers. In the same city on Sunday, France will take on Portugal in the final of Euro 2016, but Sakho won’t be playing due to the ‘positive test’.

It turns out though that the fat burner Sakho ingested isn’t even on WADA’s banned list, and Sakho genuinely had no case to answer for. So much so, WADA didn’t even send a representative to the hearing; simply an explanation that Sakho hadn’t broken any rules.

This is according to Paul Joyce in the Express, who claims that our centre-back is now considering legal action following the blunder.

And too right. UEFA have stripped Sakho of reputation and the chance to perform not only in France’s Euro 2016 campaign, but Liverpool’s Europa League Final at the back-end of last season, too.

To think the case was dragged out for such a period, as well, considering the substance isn’t on the banned list.

Complete, unadulterated injustice.
