Gini Wijnaldum has become our seventh signing of the summer after putting pen to paper on a five-year deal with the club.
He joins for £25 million, just 12 months after signing for Newcastle United for barely half that amount.
He brings goals, pace, versatility and technique to the side – attributes we lacked at times last season, especially when up against more resolute opposition.

Fans are mainly delighted with the deal – but it’s Wijnaldum’s goals-per-game ratio that garnered the most attention. He bagged 11 goals from midfield for a relegated side last season, and fans are saying that it’s not being given enough praise.
Ppl underestimating 11 goals in a debut ssn in a poor NUFC team. GR8 buy #Wijnaldum #LFC

Wijnaldum seems like a very good player capable of adding goals…but still surprised we got him. Seems like LB, DM, CF make more sense.

41 goals in 109 games for PSV & 11 goals in a struggling Newcastle side, he’s a goalscoring midfielder we’ve need for some time #Wijnaldum
