Joe Allen has completed a £13 million transfer to Premier League side, Stoke City.

According to the official site, the deal was completed on Monday afternoon.

Allen played 132 games and scored seven goals since joining the club in a £15 million switch from Swansea City in the summer of 2012.

Despite being one of the best players of this summer’s European Championships in France, he was deemed surplus to requirements by Jurgen Klopp.

Last season, he made just eight starts in the league – five of which game after April 10th when the manager started resting his preferred starting eleven to save them for our Europa League exploits.

Fans have been divided on whether or not he should be sold, but we think it was the right decision. He was behind Henderson, Can, Grujic, Wijnaldum, Lucas, and Milner in the race for a midfield slot.

He only had 12 months remaining on his deal – hence the low fee.

We wish Joe well at his new club.
