Klopp wants Liverpool to become the destination rather than the stepping stone

Jurgen Klopp is confident he can stop the talent drain that’s seen some of our top stars leave over the last six years.

Since our second-place finish in 2009, we have lost the likes of Xabi Alonso, Fernando Torres, Raheem Sterling, Javier Mascherano, and Luis Suarez to some of our domestic and European rivals.

One of those players – Luis Suarez – is set to go head-to-head with the Reds for the first time since his 2014 big money switch to Barcelona when the two clubs play a friendly at Wembley on Saturday.

“It’s one of the targets for the coming years,” said Klopp. (via Echo)

“There hasn’t been a successful team in world football who change their squad every year. You need to need your key players. That’s a very important thing.

“You have to create a situation where you are successful. A situation where everyone feels in a good way and we are strong enough and patient enough to keep them together.

“We say that same squad and consistency creates success.”
