Liverpool fans have been reacting to the news we’ve accepted a £27 million fee for Christian Benteke.
The fee could eventually rise to £32 million, depending on the performance related bonuses.
Our decision to accept Palace’s bid means one of our summer transfer sagas is now nearing a conclusion. It’s been apparent for months that Klopp didn’t want or need Benteke in his squad, but he’d been standing firm over the fee.

And it’s that fee which has been the main talking point among fans. Most seem impressed that we’re set to recoup almost all the money we shelled out for the player last summer – though some have been hesitant to welcome the departure of a player who is, on the face of it, a highly-talented individual.

@empireofthekop good deal, have we spent any money this window??

@Aiden_Light @empireofthekop I don’t hope he comes back to haunt us but we should’ve given him more time

Benteke was never going to work, just doesn’t suit our style. So happy to get that amount of money back on him! Now buy a left back! #LFC

We’ve gotten more money for unwanted players Benteke, Ibe, Allen, Smith, Skrtel, Canos, Sinclair and Teixeira than we did for Suarez.

Christian Benteke. 10 goals. Aston Villa relegated. Barely a loss overall.
Great signing.

Benteke: another player that looks good in a lesser team that failed to make the step up. Tra lad. #lfc

£32mil is absolutely terrific business. Glad we’ve got rid of Benteke. Not a bad player, but a terrible buy for LFC.

Benteke is apparently ‘good business’ but Alexis was the same price
