Crystal Palace had a bid of £23m with £7m worth of add-ons rejected earlier in the week – with James Pearce of the Echo confirming that the ‘add-ons’ were highly unrealistic.
We eventually understood that they included Champions League appearances and whatnot; something that’s not going to happen at Selhurst Park bar a miracle…
Benteke would have had to win Wimbledon, the British Grand Prix and MasterChef for the £7million worth of add-ons to be triggered. #LFC

But yesterday, Liverpool accepted an offer of £27m with £5m worth of potential add-ons. Thankfully this time around the add-ons are attainable. They will likely be appearances, avoiding relegation and a modest overall goal target – so bar an injury or a nightmarish Palace season – we should receive the full sum.
Unlike the offer for Benteke on Tuesday, this one includes add-ons which are both realistic and achievable. #LFC

The Belgian powerhouse is now travelling to London to undergo a medical and thrash out personal terms, with a deal expected to conclude shortly.
Benteke arrived for £32.5m last summer, and after failing to adapt to Jurgen Klopp’s stylistic demands, the club is doing very well to recoup what we spent.
We wish him well at Palace, a club that will give him the first-team football he deserves and play to his strengths.
