Daniel Sturridge looked pretty downbeat for a player who’d just scored five goals in a 5-0 romp last night.
Jurgen Klopp went with Divock Origi centrally, leaving the Englishman on the bench until the second-half. In fairness to the 26-year-old he injected class into the side upon his arrival and has probably earned himself a start against Tottenham as a result – but he intimated he was pretty disappointed to be benched verses Burton in the first place.

“It’s nice to score goals. It’s always nice to score goals… But of course you want to play as well,” he said – when asked if he was pleased with his brace.
Sturridge is not a player who will accept rotation happily. He wants to be the main man leading our line week in, week out. If he can stay fit, he has more than enough talent to do just that – but we need to see more performances like the one against Burton and less like the one against Burnley. Of course, the entire squad was off-colour at Turf Moor.
You can watch Sturridge’s post-match interview, here. He says the right things – but he just needs to tell his face!
