In honour of the opening of our new Main Stand yesterday, we thought we’d share eight cool facts about the new construction.
Some of them might surprise you!
- The new floodlights include 198 individual 2kw bulbs (would hate to see the electric bill!).
- It took 643 days to build from start to finish — or about 10,000 games of football.
- If every seat in the new stand was placed side-by-side, they would stretch for six miles.
- The public area of the new stand is the size of two football pitches.
- The internal floor space of the new stand is the size of FIVE football pitches!
- It contains 760 panes of glasses, which if laid end-to-end, would be four times the length of the pitch.
- 500,000 metres of cable were used.
- The amount of paint used would fill three Olympic-sized swimming pools.
