Sturridge ambitiously targeted by three Premier League relegation candidates

We’re only covering this to let Liverpool fans know how ridiculous we think it is…

And we guess it also acts as a warning to avoid nonsense stories like this one in the run up to the January transfer window.

Italian outlet Calciomercato suggests that West Ham, Sunderland and Stoke City want to try and sign Daniel Sturridge this winter!

How an Italian website has the scoop on this story, we don’t know. In fact, we do – they’ve conjured it out of thin air. Sadly, it will now do the rounds of the English papers and we only hope they take it with as much salt as we are.

Sturridge is not an automatic starter in Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool side anymore, but who is? The manager picks his teams on form and fitness and, right now, he’s getting the mix right. We’re winning and Sturridge is making strong contributions from the bench.

Granted, the striker would prefer to be the main man – but we relied on him for two seasons and because of his injuries – we were left blunt in attack. Now, Sturridge is a cog in Klopp’s plans – as important as Coutinho, Sadio Mane and the rest.

There’s no way he’ll accept a move to relegation fodder when he can grow with Liverpool.
