Coutinho thinks he’s in the form of his life – but suggests still room for improvement

Philippe Coutinho has told the media that he thinks he is currently playing the best football of his career – but he’s tempered his excitement with some realities.

In an extensive interview with the Echo, he covered lots of aspects of the club and his time in the city of Liverpool so far.

“Maybe this is the best I’ve played but I still think I can improve,” he said.

“This is just the start. I always want to improve and do better.

“I want to be an important player for this team. I want to help my team-mates to achieve great things.”

Coutinho is well on the way to breaking his own personal best for league goals in a season.

This is his fourth full season at the club. So far:

  • He scored three in 12 games during the second half of 2012/13 after signing in January.
  • He bagged five in the famous 203/14 season
  • He got another five the year later
  • And he scored eight last season

This term, he is already on three goals from just five starts and is currently averaging better than a goal every two games.
