It seemed fitting that 17-year-old sensation Ben Woodburn would step out to make his Premier League debut at Anfield and in front of Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard.

The roar from the terraces as the youngster came on as a late substitute will be something he remembers for the rest of his life.

He is no stranger to Reds fans, having made himself known with several stand out performances during the pre-season.

Woodburn has enjoyed a bright start to the season for the U23s and has been tipped for more first team action later in the campaign.

Tuesday night’s EFL Cup quarter final tie with Leeds has emerged as a possible opportunity for the teenage sensation to play under Jurgen Klopp again.

He may still be young, but there is a lot of excitement surrounding the quality that the young man possesses and also what he is capable of in the future.

Fans have been quick to congratulate him on his personal triumph.
