We absolutely love Jurgen Klopp but we can’t quite agree with his take on Sunday’s game against West Ham.
Having said this, the latest example of his unique outlook on football is one of the reasons why he is so great.
Speaking ahead of this weekend’s fixture, he told Liverpoolfc.com: “Injuries, it’s how it is – they all come back when they play against us! But that’s no problem because we want to beat the best West Ham, if you want.”
“I think we will face the best West Ham because I’m pretty sure Slaven Bilic today said a lot of injured players are back for the Liverpool clash, so it will be interesting.”
“How I said, we will need everyone in the stadium. It’s West Ham and they want to come back on track, they need results, but we need results too and it’s at home, so we have to show the difference.”
Wanting to play against the best West Ham isn’t exactly what we had in mind, especially after losing last weekend.
Credit where credit is due though. If we are to be successful then Klopp wants us to play each team at their best and prove we are worthy of our achievements this season and we cannot fault him for that.
We are incredibly fortunate to have a manager who loves football as much as he does. He lives for the competition, the challenge and, more importantly, the feeling of a true and deserved victory.
Judging by Klopp’s words, there is little chance of the Reds giving anything other than 100% against the Hammers.
It is a must win and perhaps playing the best West Ham is what our players need to ensure they are at the top of their game.
