Liverpool linked with move for former Premier League striker

It’s that time of year again. No, not Christmas but the month before the transfer window reopens when Premier League clubs and Liverpool in particular are linked with a move for anyone that is anyone.

Bayer Leverkusen’s Javier Hernandez is the latest and certainly won’t be the last player to be a named as a rumoured target for Jurgen Klopp this January.

The Mexican is reportedly being by eyed up by both Liverpool and Tottenham and has a £33.5m buyout clause, according to the Mirror.

Klopp could be tempted to dip into the transfer funds with injuries to key players cropping up over the past few weeks and Sadio Mane set to depart for the African Cup of Nations in January.

The former Manchester United forward’s hefty price tag could put the German off despite the advantage of his Premier League experience.

It poses as an unlikely deal but certainly one that suggests Liverpool’s attack will be strengthened by the arrival of a new face at some point.
