Liverpool limped out of the EFL Cup this evening, following a 1-0 loss to Southampton at Anfield – making it 2-0 on aggregate – confirming the first semi-final loss of Jurgen Klopp’s career.
We haven’t scored in almost 5 hours against the Saints in all competitions and deserve to be out of the competition at their expense.
Daniel Sturridge was one of many poor performers and missed two guilt-edged chances in the second-half, both of which he skied over the bar.

In our opinion, he was just as culpable as his team-mates, but Liverpool fans decided to turn on the Englishman after the game.
Some of the reaction is downright disrespectful, but what’s clear is this: Sturridge is NOT the same player who started up top for us in 2013/14 and bagged over 20 goals. He’s slower, takes less risks and makes poorer decisions.
That can’t be argued.

Ian Rush sitting in the crowd shaking his head. Even at 55 he would have put at least one of those chances that Sturridge missed, away….

Sturridge didn’t look one bit assed all game. Burnt my head out! Had a mare. Loads of them did. Karius the only positive!

I’m Sturridge’s biggest fan and have defended him for ages, but it’s time to sell.

Klopp “Sturridge has been good in training, that is why he starts”
Course he’s good in training, playing against Liverpool defenders.
