Liverpool only 8th in world shirt sale list; way behind nearest rivals

Posted by

Liverpool made the top 10 in 2016 for most shirts sold, but still sit quite a way below some of our Premier League rivals.

We sold more than Tottenham and Manchester City – but sold around half of what Chelsea and Arsenal did and unfortunately about a quarter of the shirts Manchester United offloaded.

The list was published in the Daily Star, here and you can see it below.

10) AC Milan – 650,000

9) PSG – 685,000

8) Liverpool – 705,000

7) Juventus 850,000

6) Arsenal 1,225,000

5) Bayern 1,500,000

4) Chelsea 1,650,000

3) Barca, 1,980,000

2) Real Madrid – 2,290,000

1) Manchester United, 2,850,000

Huge clubs to miss out include Atletico Madrid, Borussia Dortmund and Inter Milan, so it’s good to see our worldwide appeal is still up there with the biggest clubs on the planet.

We’ve played in the Champions League just once in seven years though, which is obviously a huge factor – especially considering we came last in our group during that year anyway.

On-pitch success will help us grow commercially, as will the increased Anfield stadium. Some big name, exciting transfer arrivals might help too.
