Origi’s cousin reveals the one thing stopping the striker from becoming the best

It is easy to get frustrated by Divock Origi simply because Liverpool fans know just how talented and how capable he truly is.

Not only is he a powerful athlete, but he has the potential to excel in every area of the game and master every technical attribute required to be a top striker.

The last few months have been difficult for the Belgian, as they have been for the entire team, but he is still only 21-years-old and finds himself in the perfect situation to ensure he lives up to what is expected of him.

His cousin Arnold Origi, who is a goalkeeper for Norwegian side Lillestrom, has paid the forward a visit in La Manga, where Liverpool are currently in the middle of a five day mid-season training camp.

Speaking to the Liverpool Echo’s James Pearce about his close relative, he said: “I know his qualities. Divock has everything you need to be a top striker – pace, power, aggression and finishing. And I’m not saying that just because we’re family.”

“He can also be the first defender with his pressing which is very important in a team like Liverpool. I see what he’s capable of. He showed it in the 2014 World Cup for example. That was no fluke. You don’t just go and perform at that level.”

“He can be the best. The only hindrance to him becoming the best is in himself.”
