Liverpool dealt blow as two players likely out of Leicester tie

Liverpool appear unlikely to field either Dejan Lovren or Daniel Sturridge against Leicester City on Monday, as neither have trained yet this week.

That’s according to the Echo.

We face the Premier League champions turned relegation candidates on Monday evening, fresh on the back of Claudio Ranieri’s sacking. They’ve been on a miserable run and we really hope they don’t decide to turn up now the Italian has departed, as is the case with many sides as soon as a manager exits.

Lovren will be replaced by Lucas again, with the Brazilian starting our past two fixtures. The Croat has been in Germany seeing a knee specialist and obviously this fixture has come too soon.

Sturridge on the other hand has been ill and has not recovered sufficiently from the virus which saw him sent home from La Manga earlier in the week.

He was unlikely to start anyway, with Roberto Firmino the likely centre-forward, but it’ll be touch and go whether he makes the bench.
