(Video) Mamadou Sakho’s brilliant debut performance for Palace will leave Reds asking questions…

It was always going to happen, wasn’t it?

In his typically languid and unorthodox style, Mamadou Sakho put in an exceptional performance on full-debut for Crystal Palace yesterday.

The relegation candidates beat Middlesbrough 1-0 thanks to van Aanholt’s winner, but it was Sakho who really won them the game, with the Liverpool owned Frenchman defending courageously from start to finish.

Sakho’s ability was never in question, but Jurgen Klopp fell out with him and decided he would no longer play a part in his first-team plans, refusing to pick him in a single match-day squad this season, before allowing him to depart on loan.

No matter how well Sakho plays, he won’t force his way back into Liverpool consideration, so the best we can hope for is that he does enough to maximise his summer transfer value.
