Chelsea could spend £21m on talented playmaker Liverpool sold for peanuts in 2015…

There was always a feeling that selling Suso could come back to haunt us.

The Spaniard was terrifically talented, but for whatever reason, couldn’t expand on his early promise under Brendan Rodgers and was eventually offloaded to AC Milan permanently following various loan spells.

It cost the Italians just £1m to take him off our hands, with our contract offer described as measly at the time from the player.

“My contract was expiring, and [Liverpool’s] proposal to renew was not good,” he said.

But now, Suso has enjoyed a wonderful Serie A season, scoring six goals and registering seven assists so far.

So much so, Italian outlet Calciomercato are reporting Chelsea are lining up a £21m summer bid for his services.

This would be a mighty blow for ourselves, who were are least content with Suso developing his skills elsewhere in Europe, but he could be coming back to rub it in our faces…

The fact Antonio Conte is reportedly keen is a big endorsement, too. Perhaps he likes the fact Suso has Premier League experience and recognises that he’ll need to bolster his squad with Champions League football guaranteed for the Blues next season.

We just hope a sell-on fee was inserted into the deal when Milan bought him!
