Didi Hamann picks City/Liverpool combined XI and somehow leaves out Sadio Mane

Liverpool’s former German midfielder Didi Hamann pulls no punches when discussing the club, and has been rather harsh when selecting his combined XI for Sky Sports ahead of Sunday’s Premier League clash with Manchester City – whom he also represented.

Only three Reds make his side: Joel Matip, Jordan Henderson and Coutinho.

His XI looks like this: Caballero, Zabaleta, Matip, Stones, Kolarov; Henderson, Silva; Sterling, Coutinho, De Bruyne; Aguero

At right-back, we think Nathaniel Clyne has done more this season than City’s long-serving Uruguayan, who has regularly sat on the bench for Bacary Sagna this term.

Elsewhere, Adam Lallana maybe deserves a spot – but Sadio Mane definitely does – having scored 12 Premier League goals, despite missing January at the AFCON.

He’s outperformed both Raheem Sterling and Kevin De Bruyne and we’re surprised he’s been overlooked, in truth.

Hopefully, the likes of Mane and Lallana can prove Hamann wrong at the Etihad.

A win would put us in great stead though and ahead of the Sky Blues, United and Arsenal.
