(Video) Martin Skrtel scores superb solo goal; finds the net from 25-yards out after bursting run

Not once did we see Martin Skrtel produce such a moment of quality with the ball at his feet during his time at Liverpool.

The big Slovakian was always an obvious aerial threat and one who chipped in with undeniably crucial goals but rarely were we treated to the kind of bursting run that helped him score his most recent effort.

Skrtel took the footballing world by surprise as he decided to stride forward with the ball in his own half before moving beyond four opponents with ease and eventually striking home from 25-yards out.

The Fenerbahçe defender subsequently levelled for his side against Konyaspor but couldn’t do enough to help the Turkish team avoid defeat, eventually losing 3-2.

It would be surprising if we didn’t see a Premier League club show interest in him this summer with plenty of promoted clubs and current members of England’s top flight likely to prioritise strengthening at the back.

He certainly won’t be forgetting this one for a while.
