(Video) Allan Rodrigues with steady performance in rare start for Hertha Berlin

It’s always worth providing an update on those Liverpool youngsters plying their trade out on loan, especially those who have rarely featured for their temporary employers.

Allen Rodrigues certainly fits that bill, making just his sixth start of the season for Hertha Berlin in Saturday’s 2-0 loss to Werder Bremen.

The Brazilian signed for Liverpool from Porto Alegre in 2015 but is yet to have featured for the Reds having been unable to secure a work permit. Prior to joining Hertha, he spent time out on loan at SJK in Finland and Belgian side Sint-Truiden.

A recent 1-0 win against Wolfsburg ended a record that had seen Hertha lose all four of the previous games that Allan had started without scoring.

His latest performance, despite coming in a defeat, was perhaps one of his best for the Bundesliga club as he displayed an impressive composure, work rate and forward-thinking from a deep-lying midfield position.

It seems likely that Allan will remain with Hertha next season which could prove to be useful in finally helping him achieve some consistency and putting a run of strong displays together. He needs to have played a significant amount of football to have any chance of returning to Anfield in the future and the promise he has shown suggests Klopp will be keen to let him prove himself.
