LFC have put a pretty outrageous price-tag on Daniel Sturridge

Since Jurgen Klopp took over, Liverpool have demonstrated an ability to get serious money from players we don’t even want.

Christian Benteke went for £30m, Joe Allen and Jordon Ibe for £15m and we even got £6m for Brad Smith!

Liverpool want £30m for Mamadou Sakho, which is fair considering his monumental performances for Crystal Palace while on loan, but the Daily Mail are claiming we’re demanding £40m for Daniel Sturridge.

This is a striker who however talented, has only started five Premier League matches this season because his body continually lets him down.

Sturridge came on last night and did well, but Klopp can’t trust him long-term because of the number of  seemingly innocuous injuries he picks up.

It’s clearly an enormous frustration to the manager, who demands his players be in peak physical condition.

As a result, we do think Sturridge will be sold this summer, but can’t see any prospective buyer paying £40m. Perhaps £25m would be more realistic.
