Coutinho furious with Barcelona… strange twist may help Liverpool

Philippe Coutinho is reportedly angry with Barcelona after the Catalan giants failed to follow through with promises they made during the transfer window.

The Brazilian was subject to a summer-long pursuit from the La Liga side, who had three bids, the last worth up to £118million, rejected by Liverpool.

Coutinho himself had been desperate to make the switch and went as far as handing in a formal transfer request, only for his efforts to come to no avail.

The 25-year-old is now furious at Barca for failing to sign him, having promised to do so, according to Spanish outlet Don Balon.

His frustration also reportedly stems from the fact he followed through with his part of the deal by pushing for the move.

Given how unreliable reports from Spain proved to be during the saga, the latest development could be yet another form of propaganda.

Having previously tipped the deal as a certainty, Spanish media have since widely-criticised Barcelona for their failure to secure their man.

The beaming smile on Coutinho’s face during his first day back at Liverpool training suggests he is far from devastated about staying with the Reds, as some publications have recently suggested.

Now is the time for him to shelve his Barcelona focus and turn his attention towards Wednesday’s Champions League clash against Sevilla- which could play stage to his first appearance in a red shirt this season.

His apparent anger could bode well for Liverpool if a pursuit for his services is reignited in January.
