‘I could give you an idea, but…’ – Klopp drops teasing Coutinho hint

Jurgen Klopp was in a teasing mood on Tuesday as he offered a tight-lipped response to a question surrounding Philippe Coutinho.

Speaking ahead of Wednesday night’s Champions League clash with Sevilla, the Reds boss hinted that the Brazilian maestro may make his first appearance for the club this season.

Coutinho made his comeback last week as he recovered from a back injury to feature for Brazil, thereby making him available for selection for his club manager.

Having been left out of the squad for Saturday’s 5-0 defeat to Manchester City, the No.10 could make his return to action on a special European night under the Anfield lights.

When asked if the 25-year-old would be involved, Klopp said: “I could give you an idea at this stage. But I’m sure Liverpool supporters around the world are ready to wait another 24 hours.”

“He is fit, he is healthy. All the information about the line-up you will have to wait until tomorrow. But he is here.”

Klopp will deem having Coutinho at his disposal as a significant lift for his entire squad as the players look to respond to Saturday’s forgettable trip to the Etihad.

As expected, the German has given little away with regards to how he will line his side up against their Spanish opponents.

With Mohamed Salah potentially a doubt having missed Tuesday’s training through illness, it could be difficult to overlook the opportunity to play Coutinho from the off- if possible.

A big stage on which to make a big return.

Get back to doing what you do best, Phil. Bring Reds to their feet.
