LFC legend slams Klopp in no-holds-barred interview

Didi Hamann seriously went in on Liverpool last night, following our 2-2 draw with Sevilla.

The German labelled us ridiculous and Jurgen Klopp naive for not fixing the defensive issues that were obviously there for all to see when he arrived almost two years ago.

“I don’t know where this team is going to go, because he came to the club 18 months ago – it was obvious the defence needed reinforcement,” he began. “That this was the part of the team that needed developing. Have I seen progress? No. Are they any better than they were then? No.

“I’ve rarely seen a more unbalanced squad in Liverpool’s history and in any top team’s history.”

Watch Hamann’s comments, below:

At Empire of the Kop, we try to be as positive as we can about Liverpool.

But how can you argue with what Hamann is saying…?

The names alter a little, but no top quality defenders have been signed at any point by Klopp – who has a bizarre attitude toward our backline when it comes to the transfer market.

Is it Klopp’s blindspot? He’s so brilliant at organising a side to create chances, which is the hardest thing in football – something his peers cannot do nearly as easily.

But when it comes to basic defensive organisation, he’s not shown he’s up to scratch yet.

So what’s the solution? New defenders? New system?
