Liverpool fans have reacted positively to the Reds’ comfortable first-half performance away to Brighton.
Jurgen Klopp’s men started the game on the front-foot, implementing their familiar aggression and high intensity pressing from the off.
In doing so, Liverpool dominated possession throughout the opening half and had the conviction to punish the hosts on two separate occasions.
Emre Can, starting in a new-look defensive trio alongside Dejan Lovren and Georginio Wijnaldum, put the Reds ahead on the half-hour mark when he headed home Philippe Coutinho’s corner.
The latter was involved again moments later as he received a pass from Mohamed Salah on the left-hand side, before playing a perfectly-weighted low cross into the path of Roberto Firmino, who then doubled his side’s lead from close-range.
Though Brighton rarely threatened Simon Mignolet’s goal, fans have expressed the importance of Liverpool extending their lead after the interval…
Phil Coutinho is 92% Harlem Globetrotter. The things he’s doing with the football are astounding today. He’ll be a Barca legend but ima enjoy the fuck out of him while he’s ours 🔴🔴🔴 #LFC

So Liverpool are absolutely dominating with just one recognised centre-back on the pitch, and that is Dejan Lovren. #LFC

Solid first half. Took a little while for the lads to adjust to their new positions / formation, but we’ve had the quality to take our chances. Coutinho has been superb. Up the Reds 🔴🔴🔴 #LFC

We need a third goal! If Brighton score we will be in trouble even though they haven’t been in the game in this first half #LFC #BHALIV

Very, very comfortable 45 minutes for #LFC. Coutinho is completely running the show out there. Salah quiet enough so far but played his part in the 2nd goal.

Not at our imperial best but we’re getting the job done and that is the mark of being a ‘top’ side.#LFC

Encouraging to see that we’re now a threat from set pieces. Could prove decisive in tighter games. There was also the more traditional counter-attacking goal, a joy to watch that one. #LFC

So far so good, great to see us score from a corner and a brilliant pressing to score straight away, need another to wrap this up #LFC
