Klopp breaks disappointing January transfer news

Liverpool will not be signing Naby Keita in January, Jurgen Klopp has confirmed.

The Guinean is 100% joining in summer 2018, but many Liverpool fans have been intrigued as to whether we could bring forward Keita’s arrival date for an extra fee.

In August this year, we secured the future transfer of the 22-year-old by paying his £48m release-clause plus a premium fee.

“There is nothing else to say about that. We really don’t think about it because of all the things Leipzig have said. They said they do not have to sell any player. Why should they do something like that (allow him move in January)? So no, we don’t think about it,” Klopp said, as quoted by the Express.

Asked if he is in contact with the African, Klopp issued a denial: “No. He is a player of Leipzig.”

Keita’s energy and drive would drastically help us, but we’ll have to patiently wait…

The 22-year-old started this season slowly for Rb Leipzig, but has started to improve lately, putting in a number of all-action performances for the Germans.

Keita can do it all. He’s athletic and feisty off the ball, but brilliant on it. In possession, Keita can drive, dribble and shoot. He’ll either be a readymade Coutinho replacement or (hopefully) his partner in the no.8 role!
